​Mrs. Sharon Ann Burrows of Sandys parish received an honorary doctorate degree in natural health science in recognition of her longstanding charitable work with seniors and impoverished persons. Ms. Doreen Williams James of Wild Herbs and Plants of Bermuda received an honorary doctorate in recognition of her acclaimed contribution to the field of botanical medicine. Dr. Barbara Holder, retired school psychologist, was also honored and was inducted as professor emeritus of the College of Natural Health Sciences Bermuda. Chanakan Chankhao (valedictorian), Kanlaya Matjot, Chanyarat Phiphatvarakoon, and Pittayarat Simmons, all of which are Bermuda residents from Thailand received their diplomas in Osteokinaesthetic clinical competence with distinction. They all qualified to become registered Osteokinaesthetic Practitioners with the Bermuda Osteopathy Association. Dr. Detroy Bean, chancellor, remarked on how in awe he was of this year’s graduates who have had to overcome significant language barriers in order to complete the program.

The late Honorable Louise Jackson OBE JP was today posthumously awarded an honorary doctoral degree in natural health science from the College of Natural Health Sciences Bermuda, in recognition of her sterling contribution to Bermudian society. Susan Jackson JP MP who attended the ceremony along with other Jackson family members, accepted the honor on behalf of her mother. “My mother left some very huge shoes to fill. Always giving of herself, she was the epitome of this year’s graduation theme “Living Longer Stronger!” She would have been so thrilled to be honored in this way!’ Dr. Detroy Bean, chancellor, paid homage to Dr. The Honorable Louise Jackson whose contribution to Bermuda “remains unmatched”. 

​This week is World Osteopathic Healthcare Week (WOHW) which brings together the global community of osteopaths and osteopathic physicians to celebrate our shared philosophy of mind-body-spirit, and to educate patients, the public, and regulatory authorities about osteopathic care.
This year’s theme centers around educating stakeholders about the distinctive osteopathic profession, which is increasingly gaining recognition and regulation around the world and helping countless patients lead better, healthier lives.
CNHS-BDA in conjunction with the Bermuda Osteopathy Association [BOA] salutes the vision of the Osteopathic International Alliance which is to ensure that every person worldwide has access to high quality osteopathic healthcare.

​This year's College of Natural Health Sciences Bermuda's annual White Tunic Induction Ceremony was marked by four Bermudian students being inducted into the Holistic Therapeutics degree program. Deanna Raynor, Cindy Smith, Oliver Smith, and Rochee Smith, flanked by family and friends, recited the natural healthcare pledge to uphold the core values and standards of care that is consistent with holism, integrity, and humaneness. In her keynote address CNHSBDA Vice President Dr. Saadia Bean addressed the inductees, specifically highlighting how there is a growing need for holistic health practitioners both locally and globally, due to the rise in persons suffering from chronic health diseases.
The white tunic serves as a symbol of each inductee’s commitment to uphold the duties and trust placed in them as caring professionals. The black trousers and/or skirt is a symbol of confidentiality, professionalism, and strength. The combined uniform is worn as a statement of altruism, responsibility, and compassion. ​“Honorary Prathēt thai rūam lư̄at nư̄a chāt chư̄a thai.” These words which translates to “Thailand embraces to its bosom all people of Thai blood” were yesterday sung after the Bermuda National anthem during the College of Natural Health Sciences Bermuda’s second annual graduation and award ceremony. Diplomas and certificates in osteopathic manual therapy and osteopathic wellness studies were handed out to four international students who are all from Thailand. Mrs. Myrtle ‘Sally’ Perinchief OBE received an honorary doctorate degree in natural health science in recognition of her transformative work in Bermudian society as a community activist, charitable worker, and outstanding citizen. Ms. Cosette Durrant, an early childhood educator veteran, also received an honorary doctorate degree in natural health science in recognition of her sterling career that spans over four decades of service.
In her keynote address, president of CNHS-BDA Dr. Delcina Bean-Burrows recounted how Thai students had persevered through language barriers, full time work commitments, and late-night study sessions in a gallant effort to achieve their goals. “Even though it was hard for me, I never gave up” said Natthaporn Jutharlee of Siam Spa. “Anatomy and physiology were especially hard because English is not my first language. My family and friends encouraged me along the way and today I am so happy to graduate from the program.”
In July the graduates will take the Bermuda Osteopathic Board Exam [BOBE] in order to become registered level one osteopathic manual therapists.

Recent CNHSBDA Graduate Cosette Durrant addressed the inductees, encouraging them to not give up, despite how intense the program can be.
Dr. Delcina Bean-Burrows, as she wholeheartedly welcomed each inductee, described the significance of the White Tunic Ceremony from the perspective of the event and the uniform. "The White Tunic Ceremony serves as a rite of passage towards becoming a fully trained clinician. The white tunic serves as a symbol of each inductees commitment to uphold the duties and trust placed in them as caring professionals. Our newly revised INDUCTION PREP PROGRAM is now a prerequisite for entering our degree programs. Our PREP program will help you to learn and review essential anatomy and physiology content which will allow students to successfully transition into Year 1 of the degree program of choice. The new IPC 300 is conducted 80% online and 20% in-person learning. This program is completed in two academic semesters. Eligible students may complete this program during their last year in high school, however mature students with no prior health education can be admitted into this program. ​“As you achieve milestones, don’t forget to celebrate yourselves along with your successes.” These were the words of Dr. Saadia Bean of the Family Intimacy Center who was honored during the College of Natural Health Sciences Bermuda’s July 6th, 2022 inaugural graduation and award ceremony, when associate of science degrees and certificates were handed out to students who studied and completed holistic health practice as well as the College’s Induction PREP Program. Dr. Bean received an honorary doctorate degree in natural health science in recognition of her transformative work in Bermudian society as a teacher, natural healer and therapist, an illustrious career that spans over five decades of service.
In her keynote address, Dr. Bean encouraged the students to continue to aim high in their studies as lifelong learners.  “Today as a graduate, you are entering a new milestone. I ask you now: Are you aware that your life is taking you on one big adventure? One thing we know for sure, life continues offering us new milestones.”
Amongst the graduates were Cosette Durrant, an early childhood educator veteran who received her associate of science degree in Holistic Health Studies and Natthaporn Jutharlee, a therapeutic massage specialist, received her certificate of completion of the CNHS-BDA Induction PREP Program in Science and Functional Anatomy.  Ms. Durrant will be furthering her studies in spiritual healing, while Natthaporn will be continuing her studies with CNHS-BDA to study Osteopathic Manual Therapy.
