In today’s world the increasing frequency of crises such as natural disasters, crime, war, economic instability, pandemics, and individual emergencies are the cause of immense mental distress. Mental health first aid serves as a compassionate, non-clinical, and practical tool to help people manage immediate stress, preventing acute reactions from turning into long-term mental health conditions such as PTSD. Having at least one person in the workplace trained in mental health first aid is highly beneficial. The College of Natural Health Sciences Bermuda [CNHS-BDA] is happy to offer its Mental Health First Aider certification course that is open to everyone. It is designed to equip the student with the tools needed to respond appropriately when a mental health crisis first arises. This 2-hour, 100% online, on-demand certification course addresses the following: · Understand what mental health first aid is and when it should be provided · Identify the signs of persons undergoing a mental health crisis · Understand how to provide mental health first aid · Knowledge of how to build a mental health first aid kit · Knowledge of local community resources for connecting mental health crisis sufferers with additional support. At the end of this course, you will receive a certificate that is valid for three years as well as a mental health first aider lapel pin. The names of students who complete this course will be entered into draw to win a fully stocked mental health first aid kit, the drawing takes place on May 29th, 2026.
