Enroll in our Self-Paced Diploma of Applied Science in Foot Health Practitioner Course for beginners, Massage therapists, Personal trainers, and other other bodywork professionals. This course consists of a theory portion (800 study hours depending on how fast you learn) and a practical portion where you will learn the fundamentals of foot care such as nail & callus debridement, client education in diabetic foot care, proper foot care, and general foot education. You can study in your own time, at your own pace and from the comfort of your own home. If you have any questions, or would like feedback or encouragement as you progress through the course you will receive academic support. At the end of the theory portion proceed to the one day practical training (usually scheduled on a Sunday). You will qualify with an academic qualification along with a Foot Health Practitioner Level 2 qualification and automatically become registered with the Bermuda Natural Health Practitioners Council. Course Objectives: 1. Define levels of care in Foot Care 2. Understand the Anatomy and physiology of the nail and foot. 3. Identify Medical conditions affecting the Feet & Functional Disabilities. 4. Describe the use of 5.07 Gram Monofilament. 5. Identify tools & equipment authorized to cut or trim the toe nails. 6. Discuss techniques for infection control and to prevent cross contamination of instruments, equipment, and patient exposure. 7. Understand the safe techniques: Nail trimming & Management of Corns & Callouses. 8. Understand the role and scope of practice of Foot Care Certified Nurse or Technician. 9. Describe strategies to prevent foot problems and complication including shoe gear, socks, pads, and inserts. 10. Demonstrate techniques for proper use of: nail nippers, curettes, stainless steel rasp or file, manual sanding files, and powered rotary tool.
